Amanda and I both slept like logs. I don’t think I opened my eyes once until I got up at 9:00 a.m.. With sleepy eyes and messy hair we came down to a wonderful breakfast prepared by Joyce. Scrambled eggs, homemade tattie scones, yoghurt, granola, toast with marmalade or honey, juice, tea, and coffee. How can there be a better start to the day??
First order for the day was to head to Perth to gather a few last-minute supplies. Joyce had an appointment in town so was able to drop us off at a shopping centre that had an outdoors store (fuel for stove), and a few grocery stores (breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next four days). We finished everything quickly and had enough time to enjoy a flat white and tea, before Joyce was back to collect us.
After we got back home Joyce prepared some beautiful pies for lunch. I had one chicken curry, and one steak pie. Amanda and Joyce both had a macaroni and cheese pie each. Needless to say we were thoroughly enjoyed our lunches!
After tidying up, Allan got back from his morning jobs and we moved to the sun room for a comfy visit. It was really captivating getting Joyce and Allan’s take on their life in Scotland, and their views on family, politics, celebrity, society, and an assortment of other silly topics. We really appreciate their honesty and openness with us. A couple of hours later, keeping with today’s theme of JM and Amanda being spoiled, Joyce declared Tea Time, which included mincemeat cake and chocolate squares. 😱 I couldn’t help myself - I had three pieces of the cake and it was sooooo yummy!!! 🐷
Around 16:00 Joyce and Allan’s daughter Lynne showed up for pre-crossing hike Part 2. This time we went to Kinnoull Hill which offered many beautiful views of the River Tay valley and surrounding hills. I don’t know how to describe it properly, but is a truly special spot and the scenery was second to none.

One of the running jokes today was Amanda pretending to get injured multiple times, trying to convince us she was not well enough to do the crossing. Examples included tripping on the bottom stair (multiple times), falling on the hike up Kinnoull Hill, and even getting poked in the eye. 🤣😆😂
After our big walk we headed back to Joyce’s for dinner - baked chicken pasta, salad, followed by fresh strawberries and whip cream on top of meringue. I don’t even need to tell you how delicious it all was. As all good guests should, I agreed to have seconds and ate every bit of it - Joyce did not even have to twist my arm. 🤣
After Lynne and her daughter Hannah left, we headed back to the sun room to digest and chat for a few more hours. Allan got home from his first lawn bowling league game of the season (he won!) around 22:00 and joined us until Mamdy and I headed up to pack up for our big day tomorrow.
TGOC Eve Thoughts:
JM - Excited to take our first few steps tomorrow afternoon. All the planning is done, all we have to do now is hike! 😁
Mandy - My eye really hurts, I don’t think I can walk … 🤣

A macaroni and cheese pie?? Tell Joyce I am coming over. Beautiful walking photos!! Happy TGOC Eve!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hannah! Yes, macaroni and cheese pie is easily worth a trip to the other side of the world!!!
